2025 OCCAC Men's Soccer News
Nearly 50 programs representing all nine conference institutions placed student-athletes on the OCCAC All-Academic Team for Fall ’25. A 3.30 grade-point average with 12 completed credit hours is required to receive the honor.
A dozen student-athletes have been selected by the league's head coaches to earn the honor of 2025 All-OCCAC for men's soccer. In addition, the OCCAC annual awards have also been announced.
Kyan Martin stood tall between the posts for the Express, recording seven saves in a pair of shutouts — earning himself OCCAC Player of the Week honors in the process.
Jayden Kuhlman, a freshman forward for Owens Men’s Soccer, racked up a half dozen goals last week — earning OCCAC Player of the Week honors. He scored at least one goal in all three matches, including a hat trick in the 6-4 road win at Muskegon.
Diakaria Sy found the back of the net three times in Owens’ 5-0 blanking of Terra State. The latest OCCAC Player of the Week also assisted on two goals in addition to his hat trick for a total of eight points across three matches.
Sophomore midfielder Byron Perez tallied seven points (three goals, one assist) during a 1-0-1 week for Lakeland Men’s Soccer to earn OCCAC Player of the Week honors for Sept. 22-28. This is the second such honor of Perez’s career, winning the nod as a freshman on Oct. 7, 2024.
Cuyahoga Men’s Soccer ascended to the top of the conference standings with a pair of victories over Terra State and Owens. Sophomore midfielder Stefan Trmcic fueled the success with a total of four goals and an assist — earning OCCAC Player of the Week recognition.
Cuyahoga and Terra State men’s soccer played to a 2-2 draw early in the week, and then both teams were represented in the OCCAC co-Players of the Week announced to end the week. Amit Mahat (Cuyahoga) and Owen Powell (Terra State) combined to score nine points on the pitch to earn the conference recognition.
Abram Guitierrez had a piece of all three Laker scores in Lakeland’s 3-0 win over Jamestown. The freshman forward netted two goals himself and assisted on the other. He was named the OCCAC Player of the Week following this outstanding effort.
Cuyahoga Men’s Soccer burst out of the gates with a 6-3 victory in their season opener, defeating conference foe Lakeland. Sophomore forward Baraka Mwakilasa earned OCCAC Player of the Week accolades after his 4-point (one goal, two assists) performance.
